If you ask me the best part of going to the fair, it is definitely Funnel Cakes – and corndogs – and lemonade. This recipe has you covered for those Funnel Cake cravings the rest of the year.

We are making a simple pancake batter using mix, frying it up into little tubes. Then just add your favorite toppings. I’m a purist and like just the classic powdered sugar. But feel free to add Nutella, chocolate sauce, jam, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar, peanut butter, etc.

FUNNEL CAKE RECIPE

Yield: 2
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

A fair and carnival favorite, this FUNNEL CAKE RECIPE is easy to whip up right at home for those fried dessert cravings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of Pancake Mix
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup of Milk
  • 2 teaspoons of Vegetable Oil
  • ½ cup Powdered Sugar
  • Oil (for frying)
  • Toppings of Your Choice

Instructions

    1. Combine pancake mix, egg, milk, and two teaspoons of vegetable oil in a bowl.
    2. Mix on high until well combined. It needs to be rather thick. Not super runny.
    3. Add oil to a deep skillet, around 3 inches deep. Place batter in a piping bag.
    4. Once your oil is heated to 375ºF, cut a small tip off piping bag.
    5. Drizzle batter into the hot oil in a circular motion. It doesn’t have to be perfect.
    6. Let it fry for about two minutes, then gently press down into the oil with spatula to fry the top as well. Once it is golden brown, remove from the oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat steps to make second funnel cake.
    7. Cover in powdered sugar and or other toppings.
